After School and Weekend Programs

Street Science
The Street Science Program provides exciting hands on experiences with Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) related activities and investigations that are fun and challenging. This program is designed for youth between the ages of 6-12 and generally takes place the last Saturday of the month (barring holidays) from September through May.

Science Explorers
Open to 7th grade students, this program is designed to provide a practical in the scientific inquiry method as applied to the environment within our community.

Students form into teams and investigate a hypothesis and then make a presentation before peers, parents and staff. The program involves five Saturdays and candidates must make a commitment to attend all five Saturdays. Four of the Saturdays are work days with the fifth being a field trip to the site of working scientists.

The Wilson Bay Watchdogs
Every fall, Sturgeon City, along with the City of Jacksonville, provides the Science Explorers program on four Saturdays for seventh graders. These kids will have the opportunity to visit three different ecosystems and compare and contrast their characteristics and native wildlife.
