River Run Introduction
video1Faculty member and program developer Dr. Richard Huber of UNC Wilmington’s Watson School of Education provides educators with insight to a web based computer modeling program referred to as the Data Visualization Tool (DVT ).

River Run

rrRiver Run is a web based computer modeling program or data visualization tool (DVT). This program utilizes locally collected water quality data from the Cape Fear River and New River in Onslow County. This data now becomes available to teachers and students through an interactive approach. Providing access to this water quality data challenges students to put classroom concepts to work in a real world application.

River Run Activity
rr2These activity pages are designed to engage teachers and students in modeling exercises and test thoughts and hypothesis of why certain physical and biological parameters are present and how they correlate to precipitation data. Weather and water quality data that is actual data challenges DVT users to understand real world relationships in science.

Riverworks at Sturgeon City provides teacher workshops for both formal and informal educators throughout the year. Please visit the Educator's Interactive Site to see dates of upcoming teacher workshops. (direct calendar link)
