Sturgeon
City is a place, located
in Jacksonville, NC, and it is home for a mission. The
mission is that the adaptive reuse of a former wastewater
treatment plant that had discharged into Wilson Bay for
more than forty years can be the headquarters for restoring
that habitat and educating our citizens to avoid environmental
mistakes made in the past.
Sturgeon City today is home to an award-winning park design, the headquarters
of the City of Jacksonville’s Water Quality Initiative and is home to
a number of environmental and youth education programs.
