Wilson
Bay Watchdogs
An
after-school program during the school year where students work
with scientists restoring habitat in the New River.
The Wilson Bay Watchdogs program links science with volunteerism and uses the
structure of an already established volunteer program. That program, within the
Wilson Bay Water Quality Initiative Program, helps the Wilson Bay Restoration
Staff plant oysters, maintain the water quality efforts and record and study
their work. Students meet once a week for six weeks after a day-long training
session and can select from one of three study tracks based on the time of year.
