The Creation of the Water Quality Initiative Wilson Bay Initiative and Beyond

During 1997 and 1998, a number of community summits were held. The summits provided opportunities for general citizens, persons associated with economic development, youth, volunteers, nonprofits and senior citizens to hold separate summits to talk about the future of Jacksonville.

The people spoke out. Here are some of the items they wanted:

	Asked for Improvements Downtown Asked to Make Use of the Riverfront Urged actions to change the image of Jacksonville    • Improvements how we are perceived by others    • Improvements on how we look Wanted Trails and Greenways
	Encouraged a Civic Facility Wanted the City and County to cooperate and work together Wanted a Voice For Youth Wanted Youth to know we care
