Sturgeon City Waterway and Wetland Education Program
The Sturgeon City Waterway and Wetland Education Program is supported by funding from the Duke Energy Water Resources Fund. The program aims to increase awareness of water quality and related issues in the New River and coastal wetlands through hands-on experience. Participants in the program have the opportunity to paddle along the New River and are taught basic water quality measurements through use of hand-held equipment. Through this program, students and the general public gain an increased understanding of what parameters are important for a healthy ecosystem and how they can play a role in protecting our valuable natural resources.
