Suspense
Building bridges
Kelly Thomas, Amelia Abbott-Frey, Josh Sutton

Thinking hard.

The Engineering and Physics Institutes tested the efficiency and the amount of weight different style and model of bridges could hold. The students worked diligently for two hours each morning. The designs were based on previous models that have been constructed throughout time. They tested the multiple designs by securing a bucket to the base of their bridge. Then they gradually added sand to increase the weight. After each group went, they took the weight of the bridge and subtracted the weight it held to find the bridge’s efficiency. After a suspenseful wait of thirteen minutes and thirty-nine pounds later, the last group’s architectural design finally fell. Members of the winning design included Ramon Rosario, John Weis, and Samantha Ackerly.

Teamwork.
